Minimum Eligibility of IELTS Score to get PR of Canada via Express Entry.

The IELTS Test is one of the most important credentials that you need to have in order to apply for express entry program. 

There are two categories in the exam – 

General and Academic. 

You need to apply for the academic category for entry into Canada through the Express Entry program. 

The minimum score that you need to achieve is a CLB 7 in each of the four segments of the IELTS test. However, it is advised that you try to score higher as with each segment you can cumulatively score much higher in the overall score and give your profile a significant boost. 

Having an optimal score of CLB 9 or 10 or higher will not only get you the highest scores in the segment but also showcase your linguistic and learning abilities to the immigration authorities as well as potential recruiters. 

Here is a breakdown of the IELTS exam for you.

• Listening : 30 minutes. You will listen to four recordings of native English speakers and then write your answers to a series of questions.
• Reading : 60 minutes The Reading component consists of 40 questions, designed to test a wide range of reading skills. These include reading for gist, reading for main ideas, reading for detail, skimming, understanding logical argument and recognising writers' opinions, attitudes and purpose. Here you will find extracts from books, magazines, newspapers, notices, advertisements, company handbooks and guidelines. These are materials you are likely to encounter on a daily basis in an English-speaking environment.
• Writing : 60 minutes. You will have to perform two writing tasks.
• Speaking : 11–14 minutes. The speaking component assesses your use of spoken English.
